Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he was with his three brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work throughout his time at college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing 256 pounds in college as player, commanded his team throughout 1975. In 1993, he became the associate director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
