Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in Wellington, Manitoba. She grew up there. She made her acting debut as Flora McGrath in The romantic-drama film Piano. Paquin is a Canadian and actress from New Zealand. She was born in Winnipeg but raised in Wellington the city where she was born, she made her first acting appearance as a character in The Piano. In this romantic drama film at eleven years of age, Paquin won her second Oscar for Best Actress. After an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the child of a mute Scottish musician, who emigrated from Scotland to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. When she moved in New Zealand, in the United States, she became an adult. Paquin was in a brief role in the film's title role when she was just a young girl on Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and she was a leading character in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 television movie adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding and also played a part as the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). Also, she was the character of the teenage groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
